Dr Cynthia Sathekga

Dr Cynthia M Sathekga is the Hand and Microsurgeon in the Institute. Upon completion of her Orthopaedic degree, she went on to do fellowships at Kentucky (USA) and Beijing (China). She works at the specialised Hand Unit in Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (3rd largest hospital in the world), a lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand and examiner at the College of Medicine of South Africa. She is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as heading the Microsurgery course. She specialises in brachial plexus surgery, burn contractures, congenital upper limb deformities, sports and work related trauma injuries as well as general elbow, wrist and hand pathology.
